I have found a seemingly consistent if strange fix. Head to SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Battlefleet Gothic Armada II\BattlefleetGothic2\Content\Movies. and delete the opening movie that is nothing but logos. This seems to cause the battlescreen to show up after a few seconds as well as freaking out the game a bit.
Top right corner you have the speed options. To the far left in that menu is the pause. You have to manually press it if you want the game to pause. There is a skirmish mode, it's called Battle, and you can 1v1 human versus AI. That is the skirmish mode. But there's not private 2v2, which is a big issue, I agree. There absolutely is 1v1 against the AI, it's not called Skirmish, but it's there and I've used it. That's not the point of this thread though.
The vs. ai coop skirmishes work, but every 2-3 games it'll break as well and kick one or both players back to the main menu at the start of/during a game. If your interest is coop, avoid this crap like the Black Plague until (if) the devs fix it. As an owner of BGA 1, I don't expect it to get fixed. #7.

Im currently on turn 130, own 4 sectors and am fighting for the control of 2 more. (yes i know im slow). Now of course the tyranids started showing up on my doorstep(s) and are beginning to become a problem. I finished the missions where you have to defend the sectors from tyranid invasions and now got the mission to destroy the ancient one.
The Vanguard Fleet is a strike against the defending fleets, apparently, 100 points multiplied by renown. Yeah it's pretty powerful and is the counterpart of having mainly caches as resources (opposed to Imps that get only constant income, and Necrons have a mixed income). If the system changes hands, the countdown disappears.
What makes Drukhari completely busted is that they can bring 3 battleships that have stealth and better mobility than most factions LC's so they can basically instantly cap and decap points. Triple battleships just point scumming is pretty close to unbeatable for the vast majority of fleet comps.
So you can literally die to invisable attacks. 2) The invisable hiveship bug where using void lurker to teleport a hiveship can sometimes remove it's game model. 3) Easyanticheat.sys can fail and bluescreen your computer. 4) Critical hits with armour ignoring skills are bugged since crits apply 100% armour penetration which for armour ignoring
I just got invaded by a 2700 fleet strong Aeldari fleet at renown 11 with a sector at threat level 2. Then invaded by a chaos fleet at 1800 with a threat level of 1. Then somehow invaded again by aeldari with a threat level of 0 (at least that was a fleet of 900). I get they want you to split up your fleets and leave some on defense but what's
